West Texas Tour

October 3-7, 2016

Bicycling in the Big Bend Region of West Texas has been a favorite of mine for many years. While Big Bend National Park is a very special place, the nearby towns of Marathon, Fort Davis, Alpine and Marfa all have something to offer visiting travellers. In between these towns are some great roads with very little traffic. In 2013, when the nearby BBNP was closed (government shutdown), we ended up taking 20 people to an "alternate trip" that was enjoyed by all our customers. We liked it so much that we have put together a great little trip that has 3 great days of cycling.

This 5 day trip includes 3 days of cycling and 2 days of travel. We begin on Monday, October 3, by departing from our location in Plano, TX and driving to Marathon, TX. Our cycling begins on Tuesday morning as we cycle through Alpine on our way to the Mountain Trails Lodge in Fort Davis. Our Wednesday ride takes us to Marfa for lunch before riding back to Fort Davis. The Thursday ride travels mostly downhill to the spring fed swimming poool at Balmorhea State Park. After lunch and a swim we'll transport everyone back up the hill to Fort Davis. On Friday we return to Plano.

Our trip package includes transportation for you and your gear, 4 nights lodging, all meals and ride support.

So...who would like this trip? Someone who wants to ride their bikes - but not all day. Someone who wants to soak up a bit of quiet scenery and relax in small town cafes. Someone who wants to enjoy some time enjoying their vacation without having to make the plans or do the driving. Sounds like someone you know?
