It Started with Bikin' Mike

In 1974, Mike Keel began pursuing fitness on a bicycle. He rode his bike so much that he eventually was given the nickname "Bikin' Mike". Years later, in 1987, Keel began working in the cycling industry, primarily through cycling events, cycling clinics and coaching cyclists in North Texas.

After a 3 year effort at the North Texas Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as Director of the MS150, Keel decided to start his own business as a cycling promoter and coach. Thanks in large part to Rick Gurney, owner of Plano Cycling & Fitness, Keel was able to open up a 1,000 Sq. Ft. Training Center in late October, 2000. Without any other "brand" name to rely upon, Keel decided to use his nickname for the business. He filed the dba paperwork, opened up a bank account and got busy. By the time 2009 rolled around, Bikin' Mike had built a stable of events and activities that include the Happy New Rear, Tour Dallas, Hill Country Cycling Adventure, Collin Classic, HHH Training Series, Big Bend Adventure, Team Bikin' and the Bikin' Blast Training Center. During those years, he also worked as a contractor/producer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the American Lung Association and the Make-A-Wish Foundation - helping them raise millions of dollars through cycling events.

Admittedly, this success was not a result of the efforts of one person. It was not all Bikin' Mike, as Keel liked to tell others. Accoring to Keel, "Our success has been the result of lots of people coming together for a common goal - to build a healthier community through the promotion of cycling. I could not have done it on my own." As a result, Keel began looking for a NEW company name. One that would serve as the stable for all the of the events and projects that have grown out of that group effort.

It was quickly determined that all of our projects include two simple items. All of our events and activities include FUN in the planning and execution. Additionally, these same activities are flavored with Keel's unique approach to cycling, which is where the BIKIN' aspect comes in. Finally, since we have so many varied and growing projects, we felt that ENTERPRISES was the detail that brings it all together. As a result, on January 1, 2010 we rolled out Fun Bikin' Enterprises.
